Boys Basketball BONANZA

Who likes fun? Of course we all do! Here is your chance to prove it. On Sunday, November 13th the MPS boys basketball team will hold a tip off party at the Perry Highway Hose Co on Oliver Rd. All friends of MPS hoops 21 and older are welcome to attend. Tickets are only 10 bucks. They would be a steal at twice the price! Hello every and welcome back to school. The middle of November is quickly approaching and we'd like to be in shape by the time the season officially starts. In order to help with this process, we will be going two days a week during the month of September. Here are the open gym times:

MPS Basketball Camp

Thanks to all the campers and counselors who have made this such a great week of basketball! Championship Friday is on the doorstep and we are ready to crown some winners!

Attention Incoming 9th and 10th Graders

The Union City Team Camp game times are as follows: Monday, July 18th 10:00, 11:00, noon. Tuesday, July 19th 9:00, 11:00, noon. All Freshmen and JV players are encouraged to attend.

Service Hours

Any 10th-12th grader in need of service hours, please call coach Baer. 30 hours are available for working the MPS Basketbal camp this week, Monday through Friday.

Future Fundraising

We know that we still have a car wash or two scheduled for this summer. It was really nice to have so many people helping out. Many hands do make for light work! Stay tuned for those dates.


Please know that we are able to have our Thanksgiving Gradeschool Tournament. If you know of a grade school/elementary  basketball coach please remind them how nice our tournament is and request that they keep us in mind when it comes time.

Family First League

The Varsity players are currently involved in a Family First adult league. This runs on Wednesdays for the remainder of the summer. Our schedule is as follows:
July 13th 7:00 p.m.
July 20th 9:00 p.m.
July 27th 6:00 p.m.
Aug 3rd 8:00 p.m.
Potentially, playoffs could follow if we finish in the top 4 of the league.

Final Team Camp of the Summer

We have an opportunity for both the Freshmen/J.V. and Varsity teams to participate in one last team camp for the summer. We were able to work out a deal with Union City for the Freshmen/J.V. to attend their camp on July 18th and 19th. The Varsity will be in Union City on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd. Each team will have three games each day. When I get the exact times/schedule from them, I will post it on here for all to plan around.

Important Events in July

The month of July has a few events of interest for all members of the basketball program. In addition to open gym times, we have a camp July 11-15 from 9-3 each day. This is an opportunity for boys in grades 5-9 to learn fundamentals and play games in a competitive and structured environment. The cost of the camp is $95.00. If you have questions regarding this event, please call coach Baer at 323-5968.


During that same week, we are lucky to have an evening camp that will cater to the post player and finishing around the rim. This camp is open to all members of the basketball program and it will run from 6-8 each night. Bob Amendola and other very knowledgeable coaches will be on hand to instruct each camper on an individual basis.
